“PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT”
“PERFECT PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT”
“MORE IS BETTER” IS NOT ALWAYS WRONG (BUT USUALLY… IT IS)
If you are a coach, lead by example.
You have to put in the time and the effort to be able to compete at the highest levels or just be involve with Mixed Martial Arts.
There is a problem here…
Time, effort, sweat, tears and blood can worth nothing if there is no structure.
Structure is, to the Martial Artist, what the plan is to the architect.
You have to find an environment, a place that’s going to help you to be successful and you have to adapt to it.
Then, you have to decide which path YOU want to take, based on your past experiences, your capabilities and where you want to be in the future.
Find out what feels better for you.
You want to focus more on your Striking?
Fine!
Sharpen your weapons, get the skills and the training you need to be the best striker you can be.
You want to focus more on your Grappling?
Great!
Don’t be afraid to challenge yourself and keep grinding.
BUT…
There is something very important and interesting about Mixed Martial Arts.
The Fact that it is Mixed.
You need to create some sort of balance with the different techniques that you are learning and practicing to make sure that you can ADAPT TO ANY SITUATION.
Make sure that everything is flowing with each other.
The goal here is to create good habits, get a little bit better every day and do what needs to be done to be the best version of yourself.
how to optimize your daily Martial arts training schedule for maximum productivity?
I can show you how it is done.
Our ability to progress in the world of martial arts depends in large part on training and conditioning. Each person has strengths and weaknesses that can be improved. In order to increase performance, an athlete must develop his skills by using 4 specific elements:
- Physical: Development of the physical condition and physical qualities. (Genetics, physical capacity, global health)
- Technical: Development of skills required for the sport by repeating clean movements and techniques.(Practical capacity to execute)
- Tactical: Development of action plans and strategies to facilitate decision making facing different situations. (Theoretical knowledge)
- Psychological: Development of the mindset to perform in mentally challenging situations. (Mindset, warrior state of mind, stress and pressure management)
Having good habits is very important for combat sports athletes.
A routine can be a good habit to implement around and during your training. It can includes meditation or primers to increase your mindset or boost your motivation to trigger the secretion of adrenaline. It can also includes breathing exercises to improve your focus while increasing your performance.
Incorporating a good warm up with whatever your are comfortable with. Therefore you can include in your warm-ups, techniques relating to your sport and the techniques that you are doing in your warm-ups can be the same as during the training.
Do you feel like you need to build a solid structure in your training?
A complete fighter is one who knows how to adapt to any situation.
MMA fighters must be well-conditioned to perform at the highest level. Their ability to switch between striking and grappling has become an important part of the fighting game. The practice of these fields of competence will considerably increase the quality of an athlete.
A fighter must develop an overall vision of combat where he can create tactics and strategies throughout the engagement. Knowing how to adapt to different situations is a major asset.
By having the knowledge and a good foundation,
A logical progression takes place to continue your way towards your goals.
I’m Cyril Robert.
I’m a former professional MMA Fighter and now coaching since 2009.
I have commit myself to be a well-rounded athlete but I have specialized myself in striking for MMA.

During my time as a coach, I have train numerous pro-fighters including: Charles Jourdain, Louis Jourdain, Yann Jacolin and Davis Dos Santos.
MAYBE YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG
In order to become an accomplished well-rounded fighter, there is some mistakes that you need to avoid.
You have to learn to walk before you can run. Put your ego aside. Keep what is useful discard what is not. Put the flashy stuff away when you start learning Martial Arts. Simplicity is the key.
The lack of structure and organization can make you feel unmotivated and distracted. You have to figure out how get your mind and your body in the right state to focus for the task at hand.
There is a lot of Martial Arts gurus out there. Workout videos found on the web are often performed out of context and by people who don’t have any experience, but who do have lots of marketing behind them.
Without a plan, you can’t track your progress and you can hardly follow the things you have to improve. Monitoring and managing your workouts and allowing yourself some time recover is a good way to keep a good daily routine.
HAVING A STRUCTURED WORKOUT
HOW I DO IT:
Warm Up
Proper warm up leads to proper form. Think of it like a 5 to 10 minutes fight preparation. Breath!
Workout
The intensity that you put in during the workout is yours. Challenge yourself, get that heart rate up!
Post-Workout
Time to recover! Breath some more, replace lost fluids, stretch it out to repair and rebuild the body.
